Mirabel — two towers by Marcon at Davie and Broughton, designed by Henriquez Partners — pairs a modern glass facade with real masonry. Our part was the part with a past: reclaimed antique brick, salvaged from old buildings, every unit a slightly different size and shade.
Laying reclaimed brick to a highrise standard is the opposite of forgiving: nothing is uniform, so every course has to be judged by eye and laid by hand. Brick that had one life got a second one — on one of the West End’s most distinctive new addresses.
